Our public goal since 2021 has been to create a full-time role for a Presbyterian Border Coordinator to lead the foundation forward. In the fall of 2024, Rev. Marta Pumroy-Cordero answered the call to serve in this role. Marta has been bringing in and speaking to churches across the U.S., building partnerships on the ground, and engaging, inspiring, and equipping the Big C church of PC(USA), from the border to our backyards in partnership with Abara.

Donations may be designated to any Region or Program Focus as defined by the foundation. Regions and Program Focuses can and will be regularly redefined in response to needs. Funds designated for a particular Foundation Partner or for any other organization are not allowed. Funds received this way will be renegotiated between the Foundation and the originating donor within 30 days or, if renegotiation fails or 30 days passes, the donor funds will be returned to the originating donor.

Yes. We’re publicly known as “Tres Rios Border Foundation” and our legal umbrella is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization known as Presbytery of Tres Rios Border Ministry Foundation. Your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation.

Yes. Tres Rios Border Foundation now accepts proposals for financial support. With a high emphasis on place-based initiatives through mutual flourishing, TRBF distributes grants through relationally-informed Focused Giving Circles. Upon approval, resources are dispersed alongside leaders to sustain one’s geographic focus, project, and lifestyle on the border. SOLIDARITY: Side-by-Side at the Border In a moment when so much is pulling people apart, two organizations are walking toward each other and toward those on the move. Two distinct organizations. One shared commitment. Presbyterians should prioritize giving to Tres Rios Border Foundation to sustain the Tres Rios presence and to support Abara. Tres Rios helps fund Abara with renting office space, resource partnering, and direct support. Supporting Tres Rios Border Foundation helps fund Abara, supporting Abara does not help fund Tres Rios border ministry.
